Bianca Regl : The Clairvoyant
Where Where Curatorial Collective, Beijing, China / January 2011

Bianca Regls new watercolors and drawings show an abundance of sticky sweetness, they range from still lifes of a sugarcoated exuberance that verges on both gelatin-covered landscapes and rainbow-colored abstractions, to close-up portraits of young people overeating or enjoying themselves in the glaring sunshine. While being interested in the formal and gestural aspects of figurative painting, Regl also tries to explore the meaning of being part of a society whose middle and upper classes are on a constant search of joy, gluttony and temptation, with their quest often ending in oversaturation and ennui.
